Hi, I’m Hana.
I’m a Korean adoptee from Melbourne, Australia, living in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
In 2019, I finally moved to Korea…on a one-way ticket…in my mid-30s. There was a lot of “I should stay in Australia and adult”-ness to get over first. It was one of the hardest, scariest, and best things I’ve ever done.
I currently work as a copywriter. In my free time I like to read, write, and eat and drink my way through Seoul. Occasionally I run and hike to allow for more said eating and drinking.
I also have a podcast! It’s about being an Asian transracial adoptee and feelings and stuff. A lot of feelings on the podcast and on this blog too…especially with covid(!) – sorry about that. Friend and talented filmmaker Aaron Choe also made this short documentary for Vice about the podcast and my life in Korea.
This blog is a place to collect all of my thoughts and experiences—my daily life in Seoul, restaurant/bar recommendations, expat life hacks, and more—as a record for myself and to share the journey with friends and family.
Hope you enjoy!
